AC3E role

Central control software development

Description

Central control software to operate the nine telescopes of the Italian ASTRI mini-array observatory, sited on Mount Teide in Tenerife, Spain. It allows the array to be run from anywhere in the world and captures the energy, direction and arrival time of the detected gamma-ray photons with precision.

Problem solved

It gives remote, precise control of a highly complex astronomical observatory, and shows that Chilean engineering can export leading-edge scientific technology to international institutions.
