Energy Transition
Integrated energy converter for green hydrogen production using renewable energy and high-cycle energy storage
Back to the project listDescription
A standalone green hydrogen production system that runs an electrolyser without depending on the main grid. At its core is a multiport energy converter that connects a renewable source, a flywheel and the electrolyser through a simplified topology, keeping the component count down and regulating the flow of energy between the three points. The flywheel absorbs the renewable source's power swings before they reach the electrolyser, protecting its service life.
Problem solved
It enables hydrogen production at off-grid installations, taking advantage of what a flywheel storage system offers over batteries: longer service life, faster response, and lower environmental and maintenance impact. That is what makes the solution installable in remote areas.
