Advanced prototyping and systems integration
State-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure for designing custom electronic boards, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, firmware development and rigorous operational testing.
We are the leading centre for electrical and electronic engineering in Chile, with more than 11 years of experience developing R&D projects that create economic and technological value for our country and for the world.
Our aim is to be a key actor in developing and refining technological solutions for national and international industry through:
Research excellence and specialised capabilities for R&D and innovation
Two-way transfer of knowledge between industry and academia
Advanced human capital placed in the skills that the technologies of the future depend on
Thanks to our firm commitment to working with industry, and to our first-rate infrastructure and laboratories, these strengths let us build technological solutions of real impact and offer organisations a distinctive kind of support in their transformation and their sustainable growth.
To that end we offer a complete R&D and innovation path, from diagnosis and design through to pilot testing and industrial deployment. We provide tailored, ready-to-run solutions with the academic rigour our tradition is built on, combined with the agility and adaptability industry asks for. That is how we build trust: through clear, results-oriented plans of work that address industry challenges and open the way to long-term collaborations and new business opportunities.
How we work
State-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure for designing custom electronic boards, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, firmware development and rigorous operational testing.
Design and deployment of robust sensor networks, custom telemetry and distributed processing architectures fitted to demanding operating environments such as mining and large-scale industrial plants.
[Description pending. The prototype repeats the industrial IoT text on this card.]
End-to-end capabilities for testing high-power converters, advanced control algorithms and smart grid systems, moving maturity forward from laboratory scale to industrial deployment.
The applied research areas of AC3E turn multidisciplinary capabilities into technologies, prototypes and integrated solutions for priority sectors, guiding how the centre works with industry and with public institutions.

Smart Industry
A failure prediction and predictive maintenance system for front loaders used in mining.
In collaboration with: Ingeniería Civil Vicente (ICV)
Design and control of hybrid microgrids for towns off the interconnected system.
Science and technology companies are born out of AC3E and take the prototypes and discoveries developed at the centre to market, today at different stages of commercial validation.
Born out of the centre's energy harvesting research: electronic devices that harvest energy from their surroundings, mainly sunlight, and store it in supercapacitors, with no batteries and no grid connection.
Brings art and technology together to build immersive experiences that mix the physical and the digital, through projection mapping, virtual and augmented reality, and stereoscopic cameras.
Grew out of the collaboration between AC3E and the Hospital Clínico of the Universidad de Chile, applying artificial intelligence to specialist medical diagnosis, with a focus on ear, nose and throat medicine.
Designs high-technology medical devices, many of them wearable, for monitoring, diagnosing and treating health conditions remotely.
